Soaking It In

For Megan,
Because I wish we could play together more…
So until then let’s Detox!

I love to soak up all the time I can get with my friend Megan. Unfortunately, Megan works in nightlife and I work in daylife making it very hard to connect on a regular basis. Typically, when we do connect it involves one of us falling asleep before the night is over. Remember clothing exchange party or revenge party anyone?

I am seeing and hearing a lot about Detox lately. Perhaps it is the New Year and the resolutions have gotten the best of people. Eating healthy is a great resolution, and I get that people want a fresh start. So detox first, clean out your body, and get started on the resolution.

Everyone seems to be doing it. Emily Wiess from Into the Gloss just took at trip to Italy to do one of the most extreme detoxes I have read about. (Take the time to read the comments on that post.) Elizabeth Dehn from Beauty Bets started a month long detox as a resolution. And the girls in my office have been known to come to meetings with Organic Ave. bottles lined up. So because I live in the real world, and obviously will not be going to Italy to not eat while visiting, I have investigated this “Detox” situation here from home.

From what I hear, the famous Claire Over There is preparing a very detailed at home detox for us to follow. However, as I am not a fan of resolutions… I prefer to do a detox bath instead.

According to Elizabeth Dehn’s aunt, who is the director of Healing Hands Wellness Group, this DIY Detox Bath is a “natural cure for the common cold from hell.”
Step 1 – Run a hot bath. It opens pores and prepares body for cleansing.
Step 2 – Add three pints of hydrogen peroxide (3%). This oxygenates the body and helps purge toxins. It’s also antibacterial and antiviral.
Step 3 – Add two ounces of ground ginger, a natural anti-inflammatory that increases blood circulation and helps promote the elimination of toxins through sweat.
Step 4 – Soak for about 30 minutes.
Step 5 – Drink lots of water; You need to replenish what’s being pulled out of your system.
Go Ahead and Get Washed Away!

So…. Don’t be stupid (disclaimer time.) I am not a doctor nor do I claim to be. If you are pregnant or have any concerns about safety  please talk to a doctor first. Hash tag obviously.
