Summer Magic Hair

For Summer Wizards (like Marcie),
Because you’re back and don’t know this potion…
So this is a summer magic hair show!!!

I like wizards, specifically wizards who work with potions. Do with that what you will. I like to think of myself as a wizard of sorts… meaning I like to make potions (I also like the idea of casting spells, but that is a different post entirely.) A recent conversation with my Marc Jacobs girls brought me to this conclusion – Everyone does not make their own potions to perform magic tricks for their hair. Who knew? To keep my easily frizzy and big hair (which I am really into) as controlled-frizzy-but-still-big-hair I Hermione my ass together a variety of products.

If we have learned anything from Harry Potter 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, & 8 it is that perfecting a magic trick takes practice. (You’re right, I didn’t see Harry Potter 3,4,5,6, 7, or 8 but I got the gist.) If you have naturally oily hair this potion is not for you! It works best for naturally dry, slightly frizzy, and overall a bit out of control hair.
Hermione masterpiece #1 takes place immediately after washing my hair.
Step One: Put a dime size amount of Fekkai Glossing Cream into the palm of the hand.
Step Two: Mix it with an even smaller amount of Moroccan Oil.
Step Three: Massage into wet hair. Do not massage into the top of your head, it will look like an oily mess when it is dry. Instead focus on the end of your strands and underneath for a natural, silky finish and brilliant shine.

Hermione masterpiece #2 takes place after my hair is completely dry. Never blown dry, always dried naturally.
Step One: Take a dime size amount of Redken Rewind 06 styling paste to the palm of the hand.
Step Two: Mix one or two pumps of Paul Mitchell smoothing serum.
Step Three: Massage into dry hair starting at the ends. Rub the potion all over for the ultimate sleek anti-frizz look.

Don’t fret; I am not just a hair wizard… I also whip together some cocktail potions and a great concoction of face lotion, sunscreen, and foundation. Alas, two potions are enough to start with…

What concoctions do you mix together to create beauty magic?

How can you let your hair air dry without it looking horrible?

I hear ya… it takes some getting used to! Think Freja Beha Erichsen, Daria Werbowy, or Alexa Chung. Mixed that with the hair cocktails above to avoid horrible
