For most of the last week I have been sick. And I mean, I have BEEN sick. I’m not currently sick, I’m currently in Tokyo not allowing myself to be sick. But, this is what got me from there to here, besides the plane.
Woke up last Wednesday and couldn’t do it. Couldn’t breathe, couldn’t form a sentence without a cough, and for sure couldn’t make it to work. A day and a half of sleep later Thursday rolled into town. Given the time of year that is upon us, I think it is safe to say without a doubt, I have no more sick days and I hope you don’t either. If you do, by all means, take those this week. There is no award for saving sick days, so please….
Thursday morning sat at my desk for twenty minutes completely nauseous. You know that really annoying type of nauseous that you afflicted on yourself because you took a shit ton of cold medicine on an empty stomach and now you want to die. That super annoying nauceous because you know you aren’t actually going to throw up but just incase the joke is on you, you don’t move at all. Yeah, that was my Thursday morning.
A couple pancakes later and I was back in business. Or maybe about 40% my normal business. Thursday night came home had some of my favorites homeless person liquor (Vicks Nyquil) and coughed myself into an oblivion also known as sleep.
Friday I had enough. Detox bath to the rescue.
I read about this last year and according to the director of Healing Hands Wellness Group, this DIY Detox Bath is a “natural cure for the common cold from hell.”Step 1 – Run a hot bath. It opens pores and prepares body for cleansing. Step 2 – Add three pints of hydrogen peroxide (3%). This oxygenates the body and helps purge toxins. It’s also antibacterial and antiviral. Step 3 – Add two ounces of ground ginger, a natural anti-inflammatory that increases blood circulation and helps promote the elimination of toxins through sweat. Step 4 – Soak for about 30 minutes. Step 5 – Drink lots of water; You need to replenish what’s being pulled out of your system.
This definitely helped. I am not going to tell you I am cured because I am not. I have wandered the streets of Tokyo completely over stimulated (at the very least) with a running nose. Tomorrow we head out to Thailand so I am gambling on the sand and sun to cure the rest.
So…. Don’t be stupid (disclaimer time.) I am not a doctor nor do I claim to be. If you are pregnant or have any concerns about safety please talk to a doctor first. Hashtag obviously.
