I’ve long read of the carefree clean hair dreams that cleansing oil shampoos make come true. I’m a big fan of any oil for just about anything. Face oils, body oils, massage oils, cleansing oils, oil based body washes… you name it, and if it has oil, I am probably on board. Which is why I’ve wanted to try, what I understand to be the master of all cleansing oil shampoos, Shu Uemura Cleasing Oil Shampoo (and conditioner, obviously.)
This brings me to one of the first things we need to get caught up on. If you remember, a long long time ago – in a land far far away, I said Until Next Time because I was concentrating on my day time gig. And, I did. It went well… I still am, in fact. I left Marc Jacobs (pre cultural appropriation scandal) and started working for Giorgio Armani Cosmetics & Fragrances at L’Orèal. Dream. Come. True.
First Purchase – Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil Shampoo. Love.
And since I’ve been away a while, I will go ahead and remind you that I do not blow dry my hair. I ran out of fucks to give about blow drying my hair around the same time I ran out of fucks to give about eye makeup. I do still miss eyeliner, though.
The other thing, I will take the time to remind you of is that my normal hair routine involves me washing my hair once or twice a week and strongly relying on dry shampoos.
Now that we all understand how much I depend on a good shampoo because, let’s face it, it’s one of the few luxuries I afford myself for my hair. Some of my favorite shampoos in the past have been Bumble & Bumble thickening shampoo, Costes, and Aqua di Parma. Most of those I stole from hotels, as one does.
The Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil Shampoo is different. It left my hair so moisturized that I’ve almost began to believe my hair’s finally healthy. Which would be a great feat because I dyed it like two minutes ago, and two minutes before that I didn’t wash it for almost a week at the beach, and yes… I swam in the ocean. However, before the disgusted scorn on your face turns permanent, know this: after all that abuse the Shu Uemura cleansing shampoo has left my hair less frizzy and much more soft.
I highly recommend giving it a try.
