In general, my skin is fine. While, I did spend a lot of my teens and early twenties fighting suborn breakouts, at this point in my life I’d say my skin and I have called a truce. We’ve learned to live nicely with one another. My skin isn’t perfect, but it’s also not embarrassing. And, I might go as far as to say, on certain days, it looks great. Which is why I never investigated or bought a Clarisonic. However, late last year I started working at L’Oreal. They own Claisonic… so, I got one. And, then I got another one. Which seems excessive and it is, for sure. But, Amiram drank the juice too and then he wanted one, and I didn’t like the idea of sharing and well… now we’re a Clarisonic family. Just. Like. That. I know… barf.

Anyway, all that aside, the real question is does the Clarisonic skincare system really give you better skin. The short answer is Yes. Does it do everything that it is hyped up to do? I am not sure… I took a quick swing by the website to understand, outside of all the life changing reviews I’ve read, what exactly it claims to do. The main thing that stood out to me is the claim to cleanse the skin 6x better than your hands alone. Which was proven by some clinical studies. Pretty impressive. I know that calling me lazy isn’t a stretch, but I am sort of under the impression that a little dirt and grime isn’t so bad for your skin. Again, I am not a doctor, so let’s keep that in mind, and also keep in mind this is based on a test study of one, myself.

There is no doubt that the clarisonic cleanses my skin better than my hands. You can tell immediately. The Clarisonic works by using a technology that oscillates at a sonic frequency that produces over 300 movements per second. And, since this is happening so fast, it feels like a gentle vibration. But, I worried the machine was cleaning my skin too much. So, I asked my good friend google, and she told me that there a lot of people out there who have experienced dryness and irritation. Which I would like to point out should have been obvious. There could never be a 1 stop solution for everyone. So, once my suspicions about the possibility of this thing totally drying my skin out were confirmed, I decided the twice a day recommendation I had read online was to be ignored and replaced by a once a week deep cleaning. Plus, the chances of me actually using that thing twice a day are zero. I strongly appreciate a plan with expectations that I can achieve.

So, after a month of using the Clarisonic cleansing system once (sometimes twice) a week with the delicate brush head, I do think my skin looks and feels better. I did not choose to use the Clarisonic cleanser. I probably should, but I really like the super, gentle Simple cleanser that you can buy at your local drug store. No, reason to go crazy and totally change my skincare routine.

Overall, I am very happy with our Clarisonics. There are lots of fun accessories to go with them, like a travel kit which, I obviously got too. The packaging is great. The battery life seems to be outstanding so far. I don’t think we’ve needed to charge them once. And, the colors are fun.

So, as Kelly Ann Conway says, “Go buy it today.” Only, I didn’t violate a federal ethics rule against endorsing products or promoting an associate’s financial interests by saying that… Keep it real out there. Peace.
