The Foolproof Concealer

It’s such an awesome opportunity to be able to collaborate with the beautiful Amanda from “Behind the Mirror,” and I am so excited to be able to do this guest post swap with her. Just goes to show how connected the Internet (and our blogs) make us given we’re on complete opposite sides of the world. (more…)
The tone in which we communicate often says more than the words that come out of our mouths. For example, I have this friend and every time she tells a story where I say something she adds in a bunch of stuff that I didn’t actually say because for her my tone said those things and so in retelling the story she wants others to understand what she understood. So frankly, she exaggerates.
At the ripe old age of not in my twenties, I still enjoy a good pre-game celebration-party-dance-drinks… It sets the pace. The pre-game either knocks you out before you leave (which is useful, better to be knocked out at home or a friend’s couch than at the bar) or it gets you energized to seize the night full of opportunities for run-around-sue-fun. Today it is about 65 degrees outside. It’s nice. Last week it was not. Over the summer, I put a post up on different situations that come about during the summer that it would be smart to wear waterproof mascara for. I would like to go on the record by saying I have extremely long eyelashes, like bang up the side of my sunglasses and eyebrows long. However, they are white. Not a problem. But the difference between what I look like with mascara on and without is one of the most drastic differences in the world. Like you may think Christianity and Judaism are vastly different. Nope, fundamentally the same (Jesus part aside.) My eyelashes on the other hand with or without mascara, now there is something at totally opposite ends of the spectrum. (more…)
So around this time every year I have a birthday. Pretty much no matter what. Luckily, my birthday usually coincides with my favorite holiday. Day light savings day. And not that bull shit in the spring. The fall back an hour day light saving day. Best holiday ever. Another perk with my birthday is it also happens right around the time Sephora launches their holiday gift sets. More bang for your buck, my fav holiday, and a year older. Who could dream of more? “I mean it ain’t a bentley, but I guess it’ll do.”
When your best friend calls and says she’s getting married in less than a week there really isn’t much else to do but book a plane ticket and head down south. (more…)
Denial. Denial is a wonderful condition in which to live… not always, but sometimes. Labor Day weekend marks the end of summer. However, given the industry that I work in, directly after Labor Day weekend I am thrust (and not a good type of thrust) into New York Fashion Week. By the time all of this slows down and I have a second to accept that Summer is in fact over, reality hits me first. Hits me right up against the face when I look in the mirror. Everything I worked on over the last four months is fading fast. The color of my skin, the clear complexion, my natural highlights, my summer glow (if you will) is slowly but surely going to shit. Every morning. Right in front of my very own eyes. I wish I could live in denial.
