Hi, I’m Amanda. And I’ve been meaning to write this letter for a while now.

If you were here before — back when Behind the Mirror Beauty was a place I showed up regularly, somewhere between 2012 and 2016 — hello again. I’ve missed this. More than I expected to, honestly.

I left blogging at the height of it. Not because I stopped loving beauty or stopped having things to say, but because life had other plans. Marc Jacobs was a busy place during one of the most electric periods in New York fashion. I took it all in. I watched Phil Oh photograph the front row of shows during fashion week. I left shows through side doors in coats I still can’t believe I own. I made friends I’ll have forever.

Then L’Oréal called and I spent seven years inside one of the most remarkable beauty companies in the world — Giorgio Armani Beauty, Yves Saint Laurent Beaute, Kiehl’s — learning how products are actually made, what ingredients actually do, and which beautiful bottles contain absolutely nothing worth your money. That education sits with me every single time I pick up a product now.
