Eliminate Mother-to-Child HIV

Shopbop + BornFree, Shopbop, Celine,

On Wednesday morning, online retailer Shopbop unveiled an exclusive and moderately priced, like you might be able to get a Celine Bag for $225.00 moderately priced, collection in an effort to raise awareness and support for the elimination of mother-to-child HIV transmission.

The group of designers behind the collaboration is impressive to say the least: Victoria Beckham, Gisele Bundchen, Tory Burch, Sarah Burton (Alexander McQueen), Consuelo Castiglioni (Marni), Alberta Ferretti, Diane von Furstenberg, Carolina Herrera, Donna Karan (DKNY and Urban Zen), Liya Kebede, Clare Waight Keller (Chloe), Jenna Lyons (J Crew), Isabel Marant, Marchesa, Stella McCartney, Phoebe Philo (Celine), Miuccia Prada, Rachel Roy, Ivanka Trump, Donatella Versace and Vera Wang.

The 22 designers who have contributed to the collection are all mothers themselves and therefore, strongly connected to this initiative. Sometimes you can’t help but be a little proud to work in fashion. So many powerful women, and mothers taking charge and trying to make a difference. The project is the brainchild of Vogue and aims to end mother-to-child HIV transmission at birth by December 31, 2015.

The fashion industry has long been an advocate of AIDS research and the battle against HIV. I encourage everyone to get shopping because it is an exclusive collection, so once it is gone it is gone forever (or so they say…) Some key items are the Mother + Daughter set from Prada, and a coordinating Carolina Herrera shirtdress with onesie. The prints are based on the artwork of Kenyan artist Wangechi Mutu.

Born Free is also releasing an advertising campaign this month, shot by Patrick Demarchelier and featuring models like Doutzen Kroes (who’s expecting her second child), Sasha Pivovarova and Karolina Kurkova posing with their children, wearing the collection.

Be careful, haha… I always do a lot of damage once I get onto the shopbop site, but it is for a good cause so… not too much to feel bad about!

This is such a good and honorable idea, unfortunately I don’t like not even one piece of the whole collection… :( I am just not this ethnic style fan… Do you?

I have this bohemian girl deep inside of me that always loves some kind of earthy nature like prints, especially with some birkenstocks and a jam band… so I can get into it. Plus, I really love the cause :)
