Mom Knows Best
Over on Catwalk Cult I told you guys about all the things I have done in the name of cool… It went like this: I have done a lot of things in the name of “cool.” I have had many piercings… three on both ears, my nose, and my belly button to name a few. I have gone to punk rock concerts and shoved my way up front (literally), driven recklessly and knew better, and tried some questionable substances for energy. Here is the thing about Mom’s; they don’t care about what is cool. I am pretty sure that is what makes them good moms. My mom told me stuff a lot in the form of advice. More often than not, I didn’t listen to her. (I seriously should have, she knows what is up.) Why would I? That wouldn’t be cool…
Throughout the years, my mom and I would fight, for sure, but in the end, she always let me go for it. I have dyed my hair almost any color you can imagine and probably all at the same time (X-tina highlights anyone? Jet black tips on platinum blonde? Great Idea?) But, there was this one time when my mom told me not to do something. And I listened to her, (for now… although I am not 100% committed to continuing to listen.) Once, she said to me, “Amanda, do not get a tattoo.”
Don’t get me wrong, I love tattoos Ah-lot. Rihanna comes to mind quickly. Here is the thing that I am guessing Becky knew a long time before Amanda did. I change my mind a whole lot. Permanent things, hell, even the word permanent or God forbid forever scares me. Amanda + Tattoo = super sad Amanda when she changes her mind about that butterfly on the top of her foot, the sacred heart at the bottom of her neck, or some kind of anything on the underside of her wrist. I am not going to lie, right now a tattoo is looking good to me. But Mom knows best.
Some other advice my Mom once gave me came in the form of Shampoo & Conditioner.
Mane ‘n Tail was developed for horses, but works for human hair too! Don’t believe me, check out this article, just last week, on Into the Gloss. This is legit. According to ITG, “Applied in the usual human fashion, Mane ’n Tail leaves hair shiny and clean.
Is Mane ’n Tail the best possible shampoo for human hair? Probably not. But it works, and it’s cheap, and you can buy it at nearly every drugstore.”
Now, you just have to guess if Mane ‘n Tail is my mom’s favorite shampoo for her or her horses?
Thank you Mom for all your advice. Happy Mothers Day.
