Help with Blisters

Help with Blisters, Behind the Mirror, Amanda Teague, Dolce Vita, Band-aid, Friction Block

It is freezing cold in New York. However, the summer feeling and warmer weather held out for quite a while this year. When the days get shorter and open toe shoe season is long gone, but it is still warm outside a couple things happen. To start with, my feet aren’t comfortable in closed toe shoes, and frankly they sweat a little bit. All this friction usually creates some blisters. So…….. I am not sure what is up with this year in particular, perhaps I am just more excited about some of my new fall shoes than in years prior, but I ended up practically crippled a couple weeks ago. Seriously, I couldn’t walk in any shoes other than my converse.

Oddly, converse are not my shoe of choice for every single occasion in my life, so I had to come up with a different solution. And, pretty quick I might add, Amiram and I were heading to Costa Rica for the Thanksgiving holiday and I wanted my feet to be healed in time to put back on my flip flops and sandals. Ha!

I immediately started the hunt for a pair of shoes that would elevate my personal style and not put pressure on all the wrong places. Luckily, that part was easy. Dolce Vita has lots of cute, flat, comfy shoes that look great. Unfortunately, Steve Madden recently bought Dolce Vita. (Remember when Steve Madden bought Betsy Johnson?) … Hopefully the DV shoes will not succumb to looking just like the generic Steve Madden shoes we currently see sitting next to the Jessica Simpson selection in every department store across the U.S.

After I nailed down a pair I loved, I popped into the local drug store and stocked up on Band-aids, Neosporin, and my favorite friction blocker.

In retrospect, I bought the friction blocker a bit late. And while, not so much in this experience, in past experiences this little stick has been amazing. I currently leave it in my handbag for emergencies. Keeping everything bandaged up and covered in antibiotic cream prevented infections and sped up the healing process. As always, I am not a doctor! But, I did grow up with a Mom who’s an RN. So, we either had stock in Neosporin or it works miracles on small wounds. Within about a week, after covering every toe and each of my heels, my feet began to feel and look better. And, it was just in time to enjoy the sun again.

Any other recommendations to help with Blisters?

Super appropriate post for the season too, holiday partys and uncomfortable heels are not fun. Band-aids and neosporin are definitely key.
