Wish You Were Here, Björk Exhibition

Bjork

The Björk exhibit is a collection of her multifaceted work as a composer, musician, and singer. The exhibition draws from more than 20 years of the artist’s daring and innovative projects and her eight full-length albums to chronicle her career through sound, film, visuals, instruments, objects, and costumes.

It was a great exhibit if you are a Björk fan. (Why else would you go, right?) Lucky for me, I am. The rooms were filled with her strange art, beautiful music, and wild ideas. It’s clear, from walking through with the audio, that she is passionate and has an agenda. Unfortunately, I have no idea what that agenda is. My Björk knowledge was the same when I left as when I entered the exhibition. I go to exhibits because I am interested in learning more, interested in exploring the creative brain of someone I admire, and interested in seeing things that I can’t see on youtube. A lot of the video footage and most of the art were things seen throughout the years either in album covers or dresses worn to award shows.

That’s not to say that I didn’t enjoy. It was the perfect Sunday afternoon to lay on a couch in the Moma and listen to Björk.

I wouldn’t mind to go either…but I can’t agree more in the surprising factor, specially if it’s about an artist you already know. Thanks for sharing your visit, it’s not probable that I have the chance to go here (sniff sniff)

Seriously way too cool, sounds like such a fun thing to have all of Bjork’s pieces and music in one place!
